It was a tradition in my Family to eat fish and seafood on Christmas Eve. Although my table looks quite different than what it did back then, I love upholding this tradition. The Feast of the Seven Fishes is an Italian-American celebration of fasting, or abstaining from eating meat until Christmas Day.
Of course, you do not have to limit yourself to just “seven” fishes. Go for nine or ten, or even twelve! I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I have loved creating all of them. Most are fairly quick and easy. Just a few dishes will require a bit more preparation. In addition, these dishes can be served in courses, or just scattered on the table for all of your guests to enjoy as one big meal. Either way, I hope these recipes become a longstanding tradition in your family.
