The mid-credits scene of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever picks up seconds after the film's conclusion, which sees Shuri (Letitia Wright) visiting Nakia's (Lupita Nyong'o) homestead in Haiti and finally taking a moment to grieve for her brother and move forward by burning her funeral clothes.

Finding Killmonger on the throne and hearing his violent point of view gives her the chance to confront her own emotions, no matter how dark they are. But meeting Killmonger also put into perspective how her anger and desire for vengeance would lead to destruction, not only of Namor but also of Wakanda.

In secret, Nakia and T'Challa had a child, Toussaint, who Nakia raised in Haiti after the Snap. In 2025, one year after the death of T'Challa, Queen Ramonda had visited Nakia and recruited her into rescuing Shuri from the clutches of the Talokanil, an underwater civilization on the verge of waring with the Wakandans.

Nakia revealed that sometime after the events of Black Panther and before Avengers: Infinity War, she and T'Challa had a son. They may even have been secretly married. As it stands, this doesn't make much narrative sense since T'Challa was openly asking Nakia to be his queen in the first film.

She helps Shuri finally move on by allowing Shuri to burn the white outfit she wore to T'Challa's funeral, as is the tradition in Wakanda. After a short montage featuring shots of T'Challa, the credits start rolling and Rihanna's soundtrack single "Lift Me Up" plays.

In that scene, Nakia explains how Prince T'Challa came to be and why she waited so long to introduce him.

Shortly before Killmonger unleashed his plans, T'Challa returned and challenged Killmonger, eventually defeating and killing him during their final battle, though his death inspired T'Challa to stop isolating Wakanda from the world and provide other nations with their resources.
